Track and registration

Just a quick note to remind you that we will be cutting off the race runner list at 9:00am ready for all to check in from 12:00pm on Friday.

This year, in line with our ongoing commitment to improving the safety and management of the event, the Kepler Challenge Organising Committee has made the decision that they will not accept any late entries on registration evening for the Kepler Challenge and Luxmore Grunt. The runner fields will be finalised from the waitlists by 9:00am on the Friday prior to the event and no additional runners will be accepted after that time.

If you are aware of any runners/friends who are planning to turn up “just on the off-chance”, please spread the word, as we would hate for them to be disappointed.

Track conditions

Fiordland has been experiencing a very wet and unsettled spring, and the kepler track hasn’t been spared.  Currently sections of the track, especially between Dock bay and Brod Bay are very wet and muddy.  Sections over the Alpine section have also experienced alot of snow melt and rainfall. Care needs to be taken, especially in wet weather.  We do ask people to stick to the track line in the muddy sections so as to not create wider bogholes.  We are working on the worst sections, however expect the track to still be muddy in some sections.
We have also experienced a number of windfalls, and even though we are clearing them as they fall, runners can expect to see windfall out there.
We will endeavour to have the track as good as we can come race day, but weather conditions really are so unsettled it won’t be as hard and fast as other years
